Dragon Age 2, Grey Warden armor
Reblogging for reference later as I’m in the middle of finishing my warden mage outfit build and all that pesky scale armor is PESKY. but it’s pretty much the best and most well designed armor in Dragon Age imo
Nicely made costume! I remember Laidlaw tweeting about it. I like how you resolved the blue stripe/scale issue.
oh that’s @ritzyfoxx! She figured out a way to make the scale+stripes work to make them look neater and IMO it works a lot better looks and practicality wise.
Basically, most people (me included) go where they think the scales are strips of armor but I made the actual chain and found it doesnt hang ~quite right~ when it’s in strip form. And the scales tend to skew and look weird when it’s real scale. What we figured out is that it looks a hellva lot better if the tabard is basically a scale armor sandwich of backing fabric+ a sheet of scale + stripes on top (and looking more closely at the tabard in game, this makes more sense). And from a practicality/fighting dragons standpoint, a sheet of armor works a lot better than multiple strips of it :) It’s heavier but hey, I can fight dragons in it.
The rest of ritzy’s armor afaik is EVA foam. I’ll be going as mage at Fanime at the end of May and hopefully ritzy and i can find a warrior to complete the trio of classes one day.
